Description
Very rare BILLY JOEL collectible from 1967!! A 12-INCH LP TEST PRESSING issued to only a handful (if that) of record company execs and production people prior to the pressing of the Summer of Love 1967 U.S. debut vinyl LP by psychedelic rock band THE HASSLES (United Artists UAS 6631), notable for being the professional debut of one BILLY JOEL, who wrote or co-wrote 3 of the songs as well as performing some of the lead vocals and playing a mean Leslie organ! Featuring WHITE "DISKMAKERS TEST PRESSING" labels with pertinent info written on them in blue ballpoint ink (see pix #2 and #3 above). 10 great psych rock tunes, including Warm Up, Just Holding On, A Taste of Honey, Every Step I Take (Every Move I Make), Coloured Rain, I Hear Voices, I Can Tell, Giving Up, Fever and You've Got Me Hummin.' As I'm not very familiar with the Hassles material, I have no idea if the versions that appear on this Test Pressing are in any way different to the final versions on the album. Mastered at BELL SOUND (name stamped on both sides of trail-off groove section). SIDE A MATRIX is "UAS 6631A - 1A." SIDE B MATRIX is "UAS 6631B- 1A." Record comes in a plastic-lined UK inner sleeve that has "UNITED ARTISTS MUSIC CO. INC. (729 Seventh Ave., N.Y.C., N.Y.)" labels affixed to center section (see pix #4 and #5 above). Vinyl visually in VG condition, but plays great from start to finish with good sound quality and minimum of surface noise! A very enjoyable listen! Comes in non-original plain white cover (no cover originally issued for test pressings).

(SS) STILL SEALED. Original factory seal.
(M) MINT: Perfect, flawless, new
(NM) NEAR MINT: Almost perfect, possibly no more than a few MINOR scuffs, wrinkles or wear.
(EXCELLENT/VG++) Less quality than Near Mint, but still in beautiful condition.
(VG+) Very Good+. Some scratches or scuffs, some surface markings, some wear, etc. Nice overall.
(VG) Very Good. Too many scratches, scuffs, or wear for VG+, but still in okay condition.
(VG-) Very Good-. Lots of wear (scratches, etc.). Starter copy.
(G) Good. Wrecked. Excessive wear.
(P) Poor. Just what it says.
