Billy Taylor Trio Rare OZ WRC LP Right here right now NM ST4021 Soul Jazz

Rare OZ World Record Club Edition LP released in 1965. Cat: ST4021. Features unique OZ Only cover art.
Over the next few weeks I will be listing some wonderful Jazz titles from a recently acquired Jazz collection. The original owner passed away back in 1985 and his sister decided to hold onto them for sentimental reasons. She had not touched or played them since then (1985!!). The records are in stunning condition for their age many, apart from a few light age spots on the covers, look like they walked off the shelf yesterday. I hope you enjoy viewing and possibly purchasing these wonderful jazz vinyl artifacts as much as i have in preparing them for sale and listening to them!!

Billy Taylor's first release on Capitol features his trio supported by an all-star big band led by Oliver Nelson. One gets the feeling that this LP of arrangements by Taylor and Nelson was made for radio airplay, as 11 of the 12 tracks are under three minutes in length, and the band is stuck playing riffs and unison lines behind Taylor's trio, so the lack of solos by players such as Phil Woods, Clark Terry, Joe Newman, Thad Jones, and Britt Woodman proves rather frustrating. Taylor's solos are swinging and to the point, though he doesn't really extend himself as much as he is capable of.

Tracks: Soul sister/ Easy walker/ That’s where it is/ Stolen moments/ Afterthoughts/ Right here, right now/ Freedom/ I believe in you/ Something always happens/ A lot of livin’ to do/ I Wish I knew/ Give me the simple life.

There are a few very light spindle marks on labels. Record has a few very light scuff marks and plays in Near MInt condition. Gloss cover with back flaps has a few light age spots and is in EXcellent condition.
