Description
An early 1970 garage beat classic from Perth - The Birds - a band who emigrated from the UK and used the same name as an English band (that featured Ronnie Wood) and also recorded two of their songs on Martin Clarkes Clarion label - this is the 3rd 45 from the band (also have the other two coming up on future auctions). This is the rarest of the bunch - although none of them sold well - in fact this one has information in Festivals archives that it did not officially sell any copy - so most of the ones you see are promos rather than stock copies - not that they turn up period!!
Birds - Magic Words/I See The Rain - Clarion MCK 3542 (early 1970) - With promo bullet sticker - Magic Words was also recorded by the UK band of the same name and is considered a gem amongst the freakbeat purists - this is a good version, in fact both sides are extremely good!!
Condition - EX- In original Festival promo sleeve - really nice copy, only the faintest of marks on both sides Plays tremendously well. This one is as rare as hens teeth and in very nice, acceptable condition. A seriously collectable gem!!
I have a huge collection of Australian-pressed 45's of rare garage, beat, and r' n' b from both Australian and Overseas artists. It is all going to be sold off so watch this space!!
