Black Flag - My War LP Rollins SST
Black Flag founder and lead composer Greg Ginn plays bass guitar in addition to his usual guitar under the pseudonym Dale Nixon as bassist.My War was released after a long period of time when the band could not release albums due to a legal dispute with Unicorn Records.The first six songs of My War are similar to the songs of Damaged but the last three songs prove that Black Flag moves away from the sound of their beginnings. All the songs on the B-side have a slower tempo, last more than six minutes and have a more doom metal sound close to the sinister sounds of Black Sabbath. My War is generally cited as a major influence on many sludge metal and grunge bands. Two songs from the album were written by Chuck Dukowski (My War and I Love You) but he left the band before its release.
