Up for auction I have a very nice copy of Black Sabbath's Master Of Reality LP,arguably their best album and certainly my favourite!
This is an original Vertigo Swirl UK 1st press (sadly without the poster). However this is such a fine example. Catalogue number is Vertigo 6360 050. The original fliptop box cover although typically flattened (great idea,not so in practise) is still in very nice shape indeed. Yes there's the usual laminate lifting in places,however no tearing or breaks in the laminate and in my opinion pretty much about as good as it gets,especially as it's over 40 years old now.
The vinyl is in over all fantastic condition and plays through smoothly and with minimal surface interference. However,I shall be totally up front and mention the fact there is a light hairline mark across most of Side 1. It is visible ONLY and most certainly NOT feelable. You can just make it out on picture eight. Like I say it is just a hairline and not in any way,shape or form a deep sound affecting gouge! It doesn't affect playback in any way but it is there. Just being honest. It was so difficult to photograph I'm afraid. Lovely high end,heavy duty quality vinyl in those days (certainly plays a whole lot better than the dreadful quality pressing of the new lp 13 which I bought yesterday). Matrix etchings are as follows. Side 1; 6360050 1Y//1 420 1 8. Side 2; 6360050 2Y//1 420 1 2.
Comes with the original BLACK and dated "06 71" poly-lined Vertigo swirl inner sleeve,which is a rarity in itself. So to sum up the grading I can say it's comfortably VG+ for the box cover and an EX for the vinyl. Thanks for looking and if you have ANY questions then please ask,it's not a hassle. RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
MINT :The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed be Mint.
EXCELLENT :The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD :The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
I may use a + or a - to emphasise a grading which may be inbetween a grade. I will never use a mint grading for a 2nd hand/used record for instance. Mint- will be the very highest grade.
