Hello there, come on in and welcome to the auction!

As you can see from my 100% feedback, I sell with complete honesty and reliability.  Above all things I am a record collector and music lover.  I only sell records that I would want to receive. I know well the disappointment of receiving an over-graded record that turns up two weeks late.  That is not the service you will receive here, so bid with total confidence. I don’t sell a lot of records because I spend a lot of time carefully finding, grading and listing them and do not like to rush this process, as many sellers must do to be able to sell 100 records a week!

I am mostly a collector of old time music, pre-war blues and folk, so buy job-lots that often contain rare records that aren’t to my taste so to ebay they go!

Here we have Sabbaths super rare masterpiece Master of Reality.

Released in 1971, the very 1st press was in a box type laminated sleeve with the famous vertigo swirl labels and a full colour poster.

In February of 1973, WWA took over the pressing of Master of Reality, which was selling at a steady rate due to its bloody brilliance!  The new WWA release came in the standard single sleeve without a poster and on the standard white WWA label!

During this crossover time, the very very 1st WWA releases still used the original 1st press vertigo box sleeves and came with the 1st press poster.  On the rear of the Vertigo sleeve, they placed a WWA sticker with the new catalogue number!

Equally, the original 1st press Vertigo vinyl’s were used with new WWA labels placed over, and the Vertigo catalogue number of 6360 050 crossed out in the dead wax and replaced with the new WWA 008 catalogue number!

These crossover records are very rare and you never see them up for auction, in fact for every 10 vertigo presses, you see just 1 crossover!

What makes this rarity even more special is the condition!  The 1st press Vertigo sleeve is in great condition, the inner sleeve perfect, the vinyl mint and the 1st press poster never opened!

Sleeve Condition.

The very 1st press laminated boxed outer sleeve is in lovely condition!  There is no splitting, stains or damage!  As with all 1st press boxes there is some laminate lift around the text but this is very minimal when compared to some with none on the rear.  There are no rips or missing flaps and all the hinges are strong.  There is some mild shelf wear to the corners and the occasional edge.  The wording on the spine is perfectly readable as it should be. A really nice sleeve that won’t disappoint!

Label Condition.

The WWA UK silver text labels are in great condition.  There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention.  There is no centre hole damage at all. Stunners!

Inner Condition.

The original 1st press white inner sleeve with the black text is in beautiful condition.  There are no stains, writing or splits at all and it holds the vinyl perfectly as it should!

Poster Condition.

The 1st press large poster is in MINT condition and I would hasten a guess at that this is the best on the planet, never been pinned, perfectly straight and crisp! Just pristine!

Vinyl Visual Condition.

This is where the record shines! 1st press Master of Reality’s are nearly always played to death (due to being so bloody good!) but the vinyl shows little signs of use! It still retains its factory shine and lustre with only minor signs of removals under a halogen bulb.  It’s clear that the record has been played with absolute care and not much as all!

Vinyl Audio Condition.

The record sounds simply great!  There are no jumps, skips or nasty distortion at all! I heard no loud clicks throughout. It just bounces off the record with a sharp and full sound! The band has never sounded better that they did on Master… and this record is document to that!  There is some static on the run in which cuts out when the stunning sound jumps off the record! After Forever has never sounded better! It’s a stunning copy that just doesn’t compare to later represses or any other format! This is how Sabbath should be heard! Stunning

So there we have it.  An uber-rare crossover curiosity with 1st press vinyl and sleeve on the verge of a crossover pressing, fully complete with 1st press poster in Mint condition.  You won’t find another!
