FIRST PRESS NOTES...
This is a genuine UK first press, it has the 1Y1 / 2Y1 matrix and of course the Big Bear management credit on the inside cover. It has a large swirl on the S2 label and VERTIGO is ABOVE the spindle hole. The Roger Bain production credit is written one line on the S2 label (Rodger on the cover) and there is of course no break between 'Hand Of Doom' and 'Rat Salad' so it looks as if there are just three tracks on S2.
FIRST PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS...
Side A = 6360011 1Y//1🔽420 12 9
Side B = 6360011 2Y//1🔽420 11 11
The vinyl is a true first press, confirmed by the positioning and size of the large Vertigo swirl and Roger Bain credits! It has a superior glossy sheen to the surface and sits completely flat with no warping. The labels are lovely, they have no paper removal and good spindle holes - EX. There are some wispy hairs/lines to the surface of the vinyl and a noticeable 'scuff' on tracks War Pigs and Paranoid. You can hear some clicks on War Pigs but not on Paranoid see video.
The outer gatefold cover is in nice condition. It shows the VERY RARE & SOUGHT AFTER 'BIG Bear" management credits!!!! There is general age related wear/discolouration to the edges, corners and spine as to be expected. The inner is really good with light staining to top corners.
Completing this first press set is the often missing Vertigo Swirl protective inner!! Good condition, no splits or tears, just discolouration spots.
