This is an early UK press of Black Sabbath. From Research as best I can, it appears to be a 2nd pressing. This press is complete with the earliest 1Y1/2Y1 matrix, the large swirl Vertigo label, superb heavy flat edge vinyl, the Vertigo swirl inner sleeve and a wonderful condition Keef matt gatefold sleeve. Ossie Osbourne is misspelt and Roger Bain and Tony Hall are credited, consistent with the earliest press sleeve. The label displays the Dunbar credit. Label has offset "vertigo/black sabbath" and centered "847 903 VTY / 847 903 2Y", and NO philips mentioned.
The record is in Excellent condition. The vinyl is still exceptionally glossy, the vinyl has the original jet black finish and the grooves show no sign of wear. There are just a couple of very light wispy marks on both sides. When played the sound is extremely bold, vibrant and clear. Superb audio separation throughout. The swirl Vertigo label is in sensational original condition. Clean and bright. The white is sharp, the black is bold and the text completely clear. There is just the slightest spindle wear, this did NOT get much use and was cared for immaculately.
The record is complete with the swirl inner sleeve in superb, Excellent condition and also plain sleeve for vinyl shipping.
The matt gatefold sleeve is in EX/Near Mint condition. The colours are vivid and the image is sharp. The edges are extremely firm, there is just very tiny corner wear and a bit of wave on the record opening side. The inside is extremely clean with bold black and clear silver text. The whole cover feels very solid and is in rare superb condition with a vibrant and solid spine with completely legible text.
