This is a genuine first press with the..A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT ...on the label and has the large Vertigo swirl

If it does not have the ...A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT .. on the label then it will be either a 2nd or 3rd pressing of this album, NOT a first.

I have played the whole vinyl to check for crackles and surface noise. There are 5 or 6 popping noises for just a few seconds during the thunder in opening song  ..Black Sabbath..and very very light surface noise between songs ending and the next starting. However this does not effect the audio and is not noticeable throughout. It plays superbly, the audio is very crisp and clear

The label on the B side is very clean , with just a bit of age marks on the Swirl A side

I have looked at the vinyl under heavy lighting and can see very fine scuff marks

The insert sleeve is very clean and white with just a bit of age staining as you can see in the photos


Unfortunately the gatefold sleeve is in fair condition. But anyone wanting a rare vinyl in their collection can keep a look out for a gatefold sleeve that is in better condition than this one and have a Black Sabbath 1st press in top condition.

Based on this grading : VERY GOOD (VG) : Record shows wear, surface scuffs. The vinyl still has a great luster, but the flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. The flaws may cause some surface noise,
