On June 5, 1977 the Portland Trail Blazers brought to the Pacific Northwest the World Championship of Professional Basketball when they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-107, taking the best of seven final playoffs, four games to two.
The fact that they were the first team ever to win the championship in their first playoff appearance is amazing. The fact that they were only the second team in NBA history to lose the first two games of the final playoffs and then win the championship is amazing.
