One of the finest Blues / Gospel players in the Columbia catalog.... Blind Willie Johnson. There is nothing in the realm of 78 RPM recordings which compares to the the sound and feel of Columbia's Royal Blue Wax issues. Few blues artists received the honor of being issued on the short lived Columbia Royal Blue Wax series. Blind Willie was popular enough to be so honored. Though he sold well, his recordings are scarce and his Blue Wax issues are considered RARE INDEED!! Here's one which is sure to rank high in anyone's collection!!
Record has some visible wear and appears to have received many plays on less than state of the art equipment. Vocal tracks are obvious on the record surface. There are a few light scuffs and scratches. The "A" side has a small dig near the begining, which may cause the record to skip one groove. Record looks V+, but being blue wax, it plays near the equivalent of an E or E- copy on black wax. Very little background noise. Plays with sound to noise at or above 90 - 10. "B" side label has some fading (see pics). Comes in Blue Columbia sleeve. A GREAT blues recording!!
