Bloodbath’s debut album Resurrection Through Carnage, unleashed upon the world in October 2002 Peaceville Records, is nothing short of a manifesto of pure, unbridled death metal ferocity—born from a veritable Scandinavian all-star lineup determined to resurrect the raw brutality of the genre’s golden age. From Mikael Åkerfeldt’s cavernous, bestial growls on “Breeding Death” to the machine-gun precision of Martin “Axe” Axenrot’s blast beats, every element pulsates with an uncompromising spirit. Anders “Blakkheim” Nyström and Jonas “Lord Seth” Renkse weave razor-sharp tremolo riffs and thunderous rhythmic chugs that strike a perfect balance between the blistering speed of classic Swedish death metal and the more measured, groove-laden onslaughts emblematic of 2000s underground metal. Dan Swanö’s bass, while anchoring the low end with oppressive weight, also contributes haunting backing vocals, adding an extra layer of demonic texture to tracks like “Deep in Blood” and the mid-tempo juggernaut “Death.”
