Description

An original 1st stereo press of THE BEANO on UK Decca. 1W/1W - 1st cut. Note that mono's were 1st issued a couple of years earlier. The stereo 1st release had to wait until 1969 - so this is the 1st stereo press. Stampers 1C/1K - placing this amongst the 1st few thousand stereo copies ever produced. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue stereo cover. How do we identify a proper 1st? Well, it must have the format peephole present - the choice of formats was still an option in 1969. Note that the cover has a pinched spine too - both these attributes mark it out as an original '69 copy. We also have the original Decca inner sleeve from the time too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, a beautiful copy that has only seen very light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. This is one fantastic title - one of the best from the sixties. So, there's no need to risk a dud - you're going to need the best audio possible on offer. I've had a couple of copies at this standard and the audio contained within is absolutely astonishing. It's an early copy and it's close onto those masters - but it's the level of preservation that takes this one up to the top notch. Expect energy and precision - with a totally quiet background. It is literally perfectly clean throughout. Which means you're not gonna get distracted with anything extraneous in the signal and you can fully appreciate the ambiance, the guitar licks, and intricate percussion. Love it! Can't knock it really. You might make out a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side - but that it is it. This is pretty much the perfect copy. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) A true 1st issue and looking pretty Dandy [or is that Beano?] Nice clean and flat front with just a couple of minor creases. The rear has escaped the usual ageing process - just some light evidence of handling at the extremities. Very minor edge wear and the openings are still sharp. The text on the spine is fully legible - with just one slight stress crease. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+)  Bag still present. No splits. Bit of ageing though.
