Blur, The Wassailing Song
Legendary rarity given away at the end of a low-key gig very early in their career in 1992.One sided promo only 7", BLUR 6, a traditional folk song in which (for the only time!) all members of the band get to sing.
Vinyl in very clean condition. Still with a good gloss and with little signs of play. Just a few of the very lightest and tiniest of non-sounding superficial sleeve removal hairlines. Incidentally, every copy I've seen of this single has a small silver splodge in exactly the same place at the end of the word "Parlophone". Many also has fairly rough cut outer edges, although this one has smoother edges than most I've seen.
Original plain black die-cut sleeve has some ever so light creasing but is still clean, sharp and intact.
The given figure for production of this 7" is 500, but this number will have dwindled significantly by now. I know of at least three copies that have been cracked beyond repair, and the chances of any surviving the journey back from a gig in mint condition are pretty remote.
There was a spate of these being sold on a fairly regular basis a couple of years or so ago, probably when original owners realised the rarity and value of this item. The supply has run very thin on the ground now. I suspect that these are nearly all in the hands of collectors now who will not part with them for some time.
