Review:
There are many tapes of the 1981 European tour.
This is one of the better ones. It's an audience recording, but it has a very clear, crisp sound. An incredible performance by Bob and the band makes this one stand out. Most songs are slightly slower than the released versions giving them a more majestic feel. On top of that, Bob drags out every word to its extreme limit to give each syllable it's own spotlight. Most of the classic songs have unfamiliar beginnings to surprise the audience. It's also interesting to hear the total silence at the beginning of the Shot Of Love songs. As the LP would not be released for another month and a half, the audience was hearing them for the first time. Bob introduces Dead Man only as "one we've been workin' on" and doesn't bother to introduce the others. If you are only going to allow yourself one recording from this well documented tour, this is a great choice, and one that won't disappoint.
