Description

This "Basement Tape" LP features four members of the Hawks (Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson - and one American, Levon Helm) better known today as "The Band." This 200 gram "Big Pink" vinyl is only one of 1,000 copies hand-numbered and SIGNED by the great Garth Hudson. This was a hot item on Record Store Day 2015 (and I waited in line for hours to get it). Now that my pride of ownership has subsided, time to sell as I'm downsizing the record collection.

This is # 718 as signed and numbered by Garth Hudson himself. I purchased this at the famed "Twist & Shout" records in Denver, Colorado on Saturday, April 18, 2015 ("Record Store Day"). It was issued in a resealable bag (hence why I was able to take these pictures). This LP has never been played (only opened to confirm signature, number, and vinyl color). I've also taken pictures of the pink insert of an article from Rolling Stone magazine calling for the release of this recording.

The Basement Tapes were recorded in 1967 while Bob Dylan recuperated and features many Dylan songs that had appeared on bootleg records prior to the "official" release in 1975. The recording took place in Woodstock, specifically, in the West Saugerties, at a salmon-colored New York house that served as the setting for Bob Dylan and the Band. This pink house (the last picture included above), also lent its name to the Band's classic 1968 debut LP "Music From the Big Pink."
