Description

Bob Dylan (credited as "Zimmerman"): Ten of Swords Tarantula Records CL16319 Released September 1985.  The album features rare and (at the time) unreleased tracks dating from 1961 to '66. Records VG++ to NM in almost all cases - beautiful condition!  See below for details. Jacket VG+ - light wear, most noticeable as a small label mark at the centre of the top of the box front and a bit of shelfwear along the bottom edge.
Here is one of the holy grails of record collecting: the full 10 LP set "Ten of Swords" released in fall 1985 as competition with Columbia's "Biograph" set of Bob Dylan classics and outtakes.  This album consists of material that ranges from the "Minnesota Hotel Tapes" (December 1961), to studio outtakes from Bob Dylan's records of 1962-66 (from his debut through "Blonde on Blonde"), to the Gaslight Café and Town Hall shows in 1962-63, to the electric tracks from the infamous "Royal Albert Hall" show in 1966.  It's all here!!!  This set includes the original descriptive booklet, plus polylined innersleeves for all records that I've provided for protection.  I also have additional printouts (not shown) that describe the history of "Ten of Swords," its unique production at two or more pressing facilities (as in evidence from the range of vinyl grades used, from opaque black to two kinds of translucent virgin vinyl!), and the origin of its material.  Although now largely superseded by the renowned and expansive Bootleg Series of official releases, this set showed the extent to which there exists a latent market for rare Bob Dylan tracks.  Figure it was ten to twenty-five years ahead of its time, and was a major coup by featuring "I'll Keep It With Mine" and "Jet Pilot" prior to the "Biograph" set.  No wonder Columbia was mad! :)
For condition, please consider the following breakdown (as listed by side):
NM: Sides 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 16.  These sides are in pristine shape and have no surface noise of note. *Please note an "apparent" flaw in side 12 that has nothing to do with the record: "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie" sounds like it has a skip about 2/3rds of the way through the track.  I've double-checked this and found (to the best of my knowledge) that the skip originates with the acetate the producers of this set used in the recording; with "Ten of Swords" being "unauthorized," it was probably the best they could do at the time.  There is no visual tracking problem here, as I have watched the record and needle track correctly at that point.
VG++: Sides 7, 15, 19, and 20.  These sides are pristine visually, and have clicks only rarely.  Some of this may be original to the source material (such as old tapes or acetates).
VG+: Sides 2, 3, 4, 5, 17, and 18.  Two of these sides (5 and 18) have some visual fingerprint evidence, and side 2 has some light scuffs.  You'll encounter a bit more background noise or more clicks here than on the sides with higher ratings.  It's all still very listenable.
Shipping by Media Mail costs $7.50, with insurance included in this price to protect your investment.  Happy bidding on this rare gem on LP!

"Quality items at reasonable prices from an eccentric merchant!"

As a math teacher and long-time record buyer with a definite passion for both vocations, I am excited to continue to make available LPs I have collected over the last seventeen years but now need to winnow from my shelves.  The items I will be posting include quite a range of genres and interests - soundtracks, specialty records, and albums ranging from the typical mainstream to the unexpectedly weird.  Check back often to see what surprises I've got in store!

Please note my conditions of sale:

-I use Goldmine standards to rate my albums, and I seek to do so conservatively.  Items will often receive both a visual check and a playgrade, so that I can review the material one last time and also listen for any differences between audible quality and my visual perception of an album's surface.  If there are any potential flaws in an item, I will make sure you know about those upfront.  As a rule, I will not attempt to sell records that rate below VG for the total package (unless the item in question is rare or hard to come by).  Because I deal largely in used stock and will be thorough in explaining an item's condition, please note that all sales are "as is" and final - returns are not accepted.

-I ship through USPS services to destinations in the U.S. only. All records will be packed sturdily with quality outer cardboard, with records and innersleeves removed from jackets to avoid seam splits on used items.  Because of the demands of my work schedule, shipments typically go out twice a week, by Wednesday (for albums paid for during the previous weekend) and by Saturday (for all later payments).  Whenever possible, I crank out shipments faster than this, so rest assured you'll get your order quickly.

-I will accept payments for items through PayPal only. If you win one or more of my auctions, please make sure items are paid for within 7 days of the listing's end.  Please note that I open failure-to-pay cases against those who do not pay or make any attempt to communicate with me within my stated timeframe, so only bid or commit to buy if you intend to follow through with a payment.

-Shipping will be at cost to the buyer, through Media Mail.  I charge a starting fee of $3.12 for one album, then 50 cents per each additional LP in your order.

-I will always be willing to combine shipping on multiple wins/purchases.  Just make sure to request an invoice prior to completing your purchase.

-The bottom line: I will make every attempt to insure your satisfaction as my customer.  Let me know of any problems prior to posting negative or neutral feedback, as this will help me to refine my services and better serve my fellow record collectors out there.  Enjoy!
