Description
A 10-inch, 78rpm shellac pressing on the London American Recordings label (HLK.8939). This 1960 UK release presents Bobby Darin’s version of the standard "Mack The Knife."
Side A: "Mack The Knife" – This recording was produced by Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler for the Atco label. Bobby Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto in the Bronx, New York, moved into pop and jazz standards with this track, departing from his earlier rock and roll recordings. The composition originates from the 1928 Threepenny Opera by Kurt Weill, Marc Blitzstein, and Bertolt Brecht.
Side B: "Was There A Call For Me" – Composed by Harris and Holmes, this song serves as the B-side for this single.
Release Information
Although the label displays 1958 as the recording copyright date, this specific 78rpm pressing was issued in the UK in 1959.
