The Valentines "She Said" 1967 Clarion Promo 45 7" Vinyl Record.
Bon Scott's second ever record,  (see other listing for the first one - SOLD).

Bon Scott pre ACDC - Released on the 18th of September 1967.
This record is a very early pressing that carries the A side Matrix Number of    MX24670   A
The heavy card vinyl library sleeve actually dates this record to well within 8 days of it's release date.

The vinyl on both sides is Visually EX (under strong light there is a bit of faint / light sleeve rash, but nothing ugly. Small amounts of surface marking is visible under normal light, but nothing that disturbs the needle.

The Playback is EX  with quiet background and deadwax.

The A side label is     EX,
2 light spindle trails about an inch long - visible only in strong light and on the right angle - very faint.
Under normal light and visual conditions, the label looks new.
The Promo sticker is firmly in place, and beautifully round and clean.

B side  - "To Know You Is To Love You"

12 very light ticks. 6 are in the run in area, and 6 are in the the first 8 seconds of the song - from there on, the playback is EX.

Label
The B side label is    VG
several spindle trails around the centre hole.
They are visible only in reasonably strong light. They are faint, but they are more noticeable than the spindle trails on side A.
Under normal light and visual conditions, the label looks new, but you will see the spindle marks on certain angles..


Overall, I grade the entire record as   VG

Comes with the Phillips company Sleeve and a radio station sleeve

The record comes in a generic, but unique, heavy card sleeve that was once part of a Music Library in Perth, but there are only three times that it was recorded as used, probably from a local radio station, as this single did not do particularly well, and it looks like it only got three plays.
The sleeve has some beautiful vintage labels describing all of the details of the record, typed in red and black ink on a typewriter.
There are three stamps on the sleeve, from when the record was accessed from the library.
The first date it was accessed was the 26th of September 1967 - 8 days after the official release
The second date is the 5th of October 1967
The third date is ? October 1967.
The stamps are pretty faint, but 99% readable.

Grading

(M) MINT:   The piece it is describing is Sealed or undamaged in any way. unquestionably perfect.
(This classification is often overused by deceptive sellers. Here it is reserved for perfect unsealed items, and the contents of undamaged sealed records,  - it must be beyond doubt - "as new") - Rarely, if ever  used by me... it is too subjective and open for dispute.

(NM) NEAR MINT.     The piece it is describing is unsealed, but shows no sign of deterioration and looks as it was when it was new.
(EX) EXCELLENT  ( or VG+)    The piece it is describing shows some slight signs of deterioration, use or slight wear. 
(VG) VERY GOOD:    The piece it is describing has obviously been used, but has been well looked after, displays no significant deterioration, just normal wear.
(G) GOOD:    The piece it is describing has been used so much that it has noticeably deteriorated, but with only minor blemishes.   
Good is not bad - Good is still Good, - I do not sell below this playback grade unless the label is in high demand and in short supply.

(F) FAIR:    The piece it is describing is still usable but has not been cared for properly and displays obvious signs of deterioration.
(P) POOR:    The piece it is describing will function properly, but shows signs of significant damage or deterioration.
(B) BAD:    The piece it is describing is unusable, missing or damaged beyond repair and does not function as intended.

The Valentines were an Australian pop band active from 1966–1970, chiefly noted for their lead singers, Bon Scott, who later went on to great success as lead vocalist with AC/DC; and Vince Lovegrove, who subsequently became a successful music journalist and manager of Divinyls.

Band history

The band was formed in late 1966 with the amalgamation of Perth groups The Spektors and The Winstons. They capitalised on the success of both the former bands, plus the interest created by having two lead singers in Scott and Lovegrove. Inspired by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and local stars The Easybeats, they enjoyed considerable local success and released a few singles.

In late 1967, The Valentines moved to Melbourne in search of greater success, and soon toured other major cities. With a development towards the popular Bubblegum sound late in 1968, the band became more in demand, particularly among teenage girls. However as the fashion for bubblegum music wore off, The Valentines struggled to retain their musical credibility despite a turn towards rock music. With differing opinions within the band concerning musical direction, and a much-publicised drugs bust in September 1969, group stability began to suffer. Although they still had a strong fanbase in certain areas of the country, especially back home in Perth, The Valentines decided to disband amicably in August 1970.

Scott had built a strong reputation as a powerful vocalist and soon joined Fraternity, and later AC/DC. Lovegrove found success as a music journalist, and guitarist Wyn Milson became a sound engineer.
