Up for bid is a rare 2 7" EP set, "Rock That Beat," by Boots Brown and His Blockbusters / Dan Drew and His Daredevils. The Boots Brown group was actually jazz musicians Shelly Manne, Jerry Mulligan and Shorty Rogers. The Dan Drew group was jazz musicians Al Cohn, Elliot Lawrence and Nick Travis. This was released by Groove (EGB-1000). I suspect this was released in 1955, as the LP was released that year (the first LP released on the Groove label). I can find no history of this EP set ever being sold on Ebay, and I can find no mention of this EP set on the internet. EP 1 contains sides 1 & 4:

Side 1 (Stamped matrix number F5 JH7117-1S) Block Buster / Short'Nin' Bread (Boots Brown)

Side 4 (Stamped matrix number F5 JH7118-1S) Coolin' on the Corner / Slow Jin (Dan Drew)

EP 2 contains sides 2 & 3:

Side 2 (Stamped matrix number F5 JH9130-1S) Double Clutch / Hip Boots (Boots Brown)

Side 3 (Stamped matrix number F5 JH9131-1S)Yes, Yes / Old Man River (Dan Drew)

Each EP is VG++, with a couple of tiny faint scuffs on sides 1 & 3. EPs are extremely clean and retain a nice gloss. 45 plays with light surface noise (crackle and tics). Some of the surface noise may be eliminated with a professional clean. Interior labels are very clean. Includes original Groove cardboard gatefold sleeve. Gatefold sleeve is a solid VG+, with no seam splits. There are some small spots of discoloration on the front, back, and interior of the gatefold. Color on the front remains bright, and the front retains a nice gloss as well. This 45 comes from a great collection of rare 45s and 7" EPs that we recently acquired. Keep watching, because there is more to come! Don't miss your chance to pick up this extremely rare EP set, in beautiful shape!
