Description

Boxer  "Below The Belt"  Virgin ?V 2049 Vinyl, LP issued in a gate-fold sleeve and released in 1975.
The vinyl appears to have been lightly played and is in great shape. It played through beautifully on my elderly stereo - no hop, stick or jump. The LP is housed in its original Virgin inner sleeve, which shows minimal signs of use - no rips or writing The gate-fold sleeve also shows minimal signs of wear and is also in great condition. Again, no rips or writing. The spine is intact and legible. Matrix / Runout Side One : V2049 A-3 EG KENDUN - A Matrix / Runout Side Two : V2049 B3 EG KENDUN - B 4
"Below the Belt" was Boxer's debut album, released on the Virgin label in January 1976. The album attracted less attention for its music than for its cover art. Photographed by Alex Henderson with graphics by Richard Evans, the cover featured model Stephanie Marrian spreadeagled and naked but for a pair of shoes, with a man's arm reaching up between her legs and his boxing-gloved hand hiding her genitalia. The back cover at first showed Stephanie in complete full-frontal nudity, but later pressings covered her up with the band's belt-styled logo. The cover was completely re-designed for the US market using the band photo from the inside of the UK gate-fold cover. The lineup on this album is a live show quartet with keyboardist Chris Stainton brought in during the recording sessions.
