The idea for Boygenius came about when Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus were booked together for a US tour. Bridgers and Dacus met for the first time in the backstage area of ??a festival in Philadelphia and were immediately likeable. Dacus had been discussing songwriting ideas with Baker for a long time. With their recent albums, the three songwriters have proven that they are among the young and great talents of the US alternative music scene. It is therefore not surprising that after just a few sessions the results were so fruitful that an EP with six tracks was created instead of an originally planned Tour 7 ''. The songs were recorded at the Sound City Studios in Los Angeles in late June 2018. Each musician brought her own song and a draft for a common Boygenius title to the sessions. As a result, three recordings can be heard with their own musical signature. For the remaining numbers, Dacus, Bridgers and Baker complement each other perfectly and give a hint for the future of Boygenius.
