Brahms Double Ferras Tortelier Aust HMV OASD 549
Christian Ferras, Paul Tortelier and the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Paul Kletzki perform the “Double Concerto” of Brahms, in addition to the “Violin Sonata No. 1” of Beethoven (Ferras with Pierre Barbizot). An original Australian stereo pressing on the HMV Label (OASD 549), the labels are cream with plum lettering, gold stereophonic flash and border, and a small fan shaped dog. The label on side one has a “sample record” sticker. The record is of immaculate appearance, and plays and sounds superb with some surface noise - this seems to mostly disappear after the first few playings. The English cover has rubbed a little with a ring and a bent top left-hand corner.
This review record is a part of a collection that originally was either played a few times for review purposes, (or not at all) and stored carefully and unplayed over the following 40 years. View my other auctions for more superb early classical records.
