Up for sale is a genuine US Original 1st Pressing of the ultra-collectible 1980 Funk / Boogie masterpiece "Splashdown" by the legendary Philadelphia outfit Breakwater, released on the vintage grey/green pyramid Arista Records label (Cat# AB 4264).

Produced by Kae Williams, Jr. and Rick Chertoff, this second and final album by Breakwater stands as an absolute holy grail of the rare groove and synth-funk movement. The album holds a massive place in electronic music history due to the track "Release The Beast" (Side 1, Track 3) — its iconic, heavy driving guitar/synth riff was famously sampled note-for-note by French electronic titans Daft Punk for their global smash hit "Robot Rock".

Beyond the legendary sample, the entire LP is a masterpiece of late-70s / early-80s urban sophisti-funk, featuring the spacey title track "Splashdown Time", the uptempo dancer "Say You Love Me Girl", and the gorgeous, smooth mid-tempo soul cuts "Let Love In" and "You Know I Love You".

• Vinyl Condition: VG+ (Very Good Plus). Beautiful glossy vinyl record retaining a strong original factory shine. Under close inspection beneath bright direct light, it shows only a few minor, faint paper sleeve scuffs and superficial cosmetic hairlines from standard handling over the years that do not affect playback. The classic pyramid Arista labels are exceptionally clean, sharp, and completely free of any post-retail writing, stamps, or stickers. Spindle hole shows minimal wear. Plays with excellent analog warmth, rich punchy mid-range, and clean vocal presentation.

• Cover Condition: VG (Very Good). Solid and structurally intact original vintage cardboard jacket with nice, vibrant front graphics. Shows honest shelf and surface wear, moderate rubbing along the borders, and typical corner wear consistent with a well-traveled 1980 funk record. The right side opening edge and spine show visible chipping, fraying, and minor paper loss to the slick print. Reverse side features track listings and the iconic futuristic parachute artwork. Spine and seams remain stable with no heavy open splits. No marker graffiti and no cutout holes.
