Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets LP  1978 Island ILPS 9268 Robert Fripp

Blue label reissue. Disc housed in an Island card stock inner sleeve.
Brian Eno debut solo album released in the UK on Island Records on 8 February 1974. A hybrid style of glam rock and art rock, similar to his work with Roxy Music, but more quirky and experimental. It features various guest musicians, including Robert Fripp of King Crimson, members of Roxy Music, Hawkwind, Matching Mole, and The Pink Fairies. Eno developed the work using abstract methods - such as dancing for band members and having them play accordingly, or singing nonsense words to himself that would form the basis of subsequent lyrics.
Even before he created the towering, wondrous art rock masterpiece that is Another Green World, Brian Eno was flying out the gate as the preeminent non-Krautrock, non-Prog art rock musician of the 1970's. With his striking solo debut Here Come the Warm Jets, Eno combines multiple influences from The Velvets, David Bowie and his former band Roxy Music to sound completely unlike them and sculpt an alien, surreal, futuristic sonic world that fly's by in succession of great songs as eclectic and colorful as the albums iconic menagerie cover. While every track is fantastic, some of the highlights include the opener Needles in the Camels Eye (a reference to Camel brand cigarettes, a box of which is depicted on the albums cover) perhaps the most song on the album, it's flies by at rapid with sounds swirling around your head, Baby's on Fire, a tensely surreal, cinematic, disturbing and probably satirical art rocker propelling through some driving bass work and Robert Fripp's fiery guitar soloing, Cindy Tell's Me, a coolly futuristic number with satirical lyrics, the delirious, trippy, cinematic Driving Me Backwards, and the sly, laid back, tongue in cheek, and trippy Dead Finks Don't Talk. There are no bad songs on this album at all. Here Come the Warm Jets is the debut solo studio album by English musician Brian Eno, released on Island Records on 8 February 1974. It was recorded and produced by Eno following his departure from Roxy Music, and blends glam and pop stylings with avant-garde approaches. The album features numerous guests, including several of Eno's former Roxy Music bandmates along with members of Hawkwind, Matching Mole, Pink Fairies, Sharks, Sweetfeed, and King Crimson. Eno employed unusual directions and production methods to coax unexpected results from the musicians.

Here Come the Warm Jets peaked at number 26 on the United Kingdom album charts and number 151 on the US Billboard charts,
