Description

Here we have 4 Brian Jonestown Massacre 12" EP's from the band's pre-movie halcyon days when a band could still be a conversational secret handshake. Each sleeve is pictured in the listing as well as a shot of the wax, in this order.First up, we have the ever-talked-about, ever-elusive, "not if you were the last dandy" single (evil-1), in very very good shape, there are some bendmarks and little dings on the corners of the sleeve. The vinyl was played twice. side B is a quite amusing rant by Anton over records playing in the background, telling the tale of that epic slug-out over who was the first at being the coolest. Clearly, it was Anton's pack, as this will explain. It's stamped tight so the needle will sometimes waver into other grooves making it all the more like the true disorientation a conversation with Anton can sometimes leave you with. A wonderful piece of art right there. this is the one they throw at people in their movie. *next up we have "This is why you love me", a single that basically justifies it's title. "Hey buddy, these are great songs and that is why you like this single." 'nuff said comrade! features "this is why you love me" a great revamp of that classic Byrds D major twelve string romp "feel a whole lot better". Idiom Pursuance for the new halo-headed generation. Slapped in with "satellite" and "servo" and the further feud-fueling playground teaser "courtney taylor" and voila! you've got a cream pie filled with broken glass straight from the BJM to the face of the Dandys (who also had some fun little numbers in their own right, keeping the rivalry intact blow-by-blow). (It should also be noted that the latter track became "if I love you", featured also in this batch)*then we have the "Love" single, which, as you may have guessed, is the one with guns in the artwork. Is it an Arthur Lee paean? Is it a bold stance to fight for Love even if it means death? A ruse to amuse you to buy this single? Is it all of these things and more? yes! It's a groovy collection of a few tracks from "Strung Out..." (Love, Nothing to Lose, Let's Pretend..., I've been Waiting (album and alt. mixes)) and a the narco-stunner "The Devil May Care (Mom and Dad Don't)". True cult magic with enough drugs oozing outta the grooves that you don't even need to do any yourself! Just lay back and mutate until crisp.*And finally, the "If I Love You" 12". This one is on very pretty colored vinyl and features the original as well as the technically-stultifying-verbage-version 'new gold european cinema standard mix'. Also in this sonic sautee is "you have been disconnected", "Carousel", "swallowtail" "that quiet song" (yep, that one- and it's a live version from KUSF, '92) & "Jeremy Davies Tall Tail" All of these have some bends and corner dings on them, they were acquired from BOMP! catalog mailorder as they were released. They're pretty, cool, and pretty cool. I hope they make a completist of this bands' output very happy. Shipping PLUS insurance and confirmation paid for by winner. Insurance and confirmation service can sometimes be $10- $20 extra, so please keep in mind when bidding. Thanks and Good Luck!!--DT
