BRIEF ENCOUNTER - 'WE WANT TO PLAY'
Here it is, folks: Brief Encounter's 'We Want to Play' LP from 1981 on Music Town Records (RSR 1205). Absolutely killer self-released boogie-funk from North Carolina by these overlooked pioneers. History is finally catching up with Brief Encounter's vision—their first LP was reissued on vinyl by Jazzman last year, but this sophomore effort, recorded in a studio that the band built themselves, is impossible to come by. Here's your chance.
Vinyl is VG+ with some light marks, but plays with barely any surface noise. Playtested on a Bang & Olufsen turntable, and sounds excellent.
Cover has light wear and creasing (see photos) but no seam splits, writing, rips, holes or labels of any kind.
Songs are: Rocking, Since I Met You Girl, Now I Know I Love You, Just for Love, Sweet Tender Loving, We Want to Play for You, Open Up Your Heart, Together in Love, and If You Want My Love.
Personnel is Rufus Wilborn, Charles Graham, Maurice Whittington, Velmar Bailey, Fredrick Alexander, Michael Carter, Montie Bailey, Larry Bailey and Bernard Bailey.
All in all, a great copy of a very rare and sought-after record!
