Description

Nic Jones - 'Penguin Eggs'

(Rare UK Original Press on TOPIC, # 12TS411 from 1980)

Label/Sleeve -> Cream TOPIC label made by Shorepak by Shorewood Packaging Co. Ltd., England

Grade (Cover/Vinyl)  -> VG+(+) / MINT-

Description -> Vinyl is in superb shape.  Just one faint spindle mark on each side, clean and shiny looking and plays with superb sound and fidelity. Vinyl doesn’t get better. The cover has some creases (see picture) and some general wear,  NO Writing, All Spines Intact

This album was rated as the second most important folk statement after 'Liege and Lief' - Fairport Convention by BBC Radio.

The magnum opus from this near-legendary folksinger, Penguin Eggs stands in a virtual class by itself. Penguin Eggs is one of those rare records where not just every song, but each instrumental part is worth hearing. Jones' singing, some of the most expressive to emerge from the English folk revival, has a richness reminiscent of a young Martin Carthy. The vocals and the guitar pieces on this makes this album truly special, Jones' acoustic guitar work is so lyrical, elegant, and sinewy on Penguin Eggs.
