William Walton 1902 -1983 was born in Oldham, Lancashire and is best known for his Orchestral works and

The music he composed for several film. He was Associated with the Sitwell family and one his early works was “Facade” which he composed to accompany Edith’s poetry.

Amongst his works are the oratorio “Belshazzar Feast” and the music for The two Lawrence Olivier Films Henry V In 1944 and Hamlet In 1954. He composed the Operas” “Troilus and Cressida” and “The Bear”.

He was knighted in 1951.
