Description
Original "Brung To Ewe By" promotional LP. NOT A BOOTLEG.
This record has the following characteristics showing that it is an original:
The ring around the center hole.
All tracks have a stop groove (the record does not play continuous from one track to the next.)
The inner grooves have the following marked in them (See photo):
SPRO-6210, space, Z1 (then a small diamond), a space, a "weird" dash, a space, EW/N
A letter of authenticity is included.
I originally had a box of 25 of these. Most were used as frisbees or targets. Over the past two years I've sold four of them her on EBay, to four very satisfied buyers. As we've continued to clean out our house I just found this copy.
The condition is excellent. It has some small, light scratches, most likely from taking it in and out of the sleeve. This copy is the copy I played, so it has been played maybe 4 or 5 times.
The background story about how I obtained these is in the letter of authenticity included with the record (see photo). It says:
I certify that the enclosed copy of the Brung To Ewe By record is an authentic, original copy.
In 1971 I worked in radio (WREB) and owned a small record store. The Capitol promo man (Dick Jennings) would come by the store and trade promo records for LPs he wanted. He traded a box of 25 copies of the Brung To Ewe By record for a couple of LPs.
Dick felt Brung To Ewe By was worthless, and so did I. I used most of them for give-aways, targets, and Frisbees (records don't work well as Frisbees). I saw no reason to keep all the papers that came with them. However, I love novelty records, and on that basis I kept a few copies. This may be the copy I played because it has some light scuffs typical of a record that has been removed from the sleeve several times. That is the reason for the EX grade.
I know this is an authentic copy because, not only does it have all the characteristics of an authentic copy, but I obtained it direct from the Capitol promo man when this LP was first issued, long before anyone was making bootlegs of it.
