Buddy Holly on Maroon Coral
CRL 57210 - 1958
OK, we all know what this LP is. Buddys only solo LP on its original 1958 maroon Coral label. This was my original copy that I purchased sometime in 1959 and it has plenty of table time on it. Still plays fine except for a 1 skip, which it skips once and plays through on, I believe Peggy Sue. Might be Look At Me. I just listened to it last week and except for the skip ( which is not bad at all ) and the pops that it has from age and being played so much this is a nice copy. Far from mint but still a nice copy. It's very hard for me to put a grade on this LP because of its age. It has the required scratches that we put on records from stacking them one on top of the other. We didn't know any better then but is not near as bad as some I've seen. And I haven't seen all that many. For the sake of some type of a grade I'll give it G + to VG. Jacket is still pretty tight at bottom and left side but does have a split at top left to about center top / I hope someone gives this LP a good home. It's a great LP!!!!!
I'll be the first to tell you I am no an " expert " grader. I have been collecting records since the seventh grade ( some 45 years ) so I do have a working knowledge of what fellow record collectors expect. I also just recently retired from the music business so I also have a pretty good ear when it comes to what a 45, EP or LP should sound like. I will grade these records a shade less than what I believe they really are except in certain cases where I know the records are in the condition stated. I use Goldmine Standard Catalog of American Records ( 3rd Edition right now ) as a reference as well as what I may know and help from friends who collect if I get really stumped.Of course I will be glad to combine shipping costs on multiple purchases. I can't quote you exact cost because it hasn't happened yet. But I don't aim to make Grand Theft money off of the shipping.
