Description

Very rare Crickets on Coral 45 RPM Extended Play record in near mint condition and featuring four different vocalists.  Side one songs are 1. Great Balls of Fire - vocal by Earl Henry Sink (Richards) and 2. Don't Cha Know sung by the late David Box.  On side two Buddy Holly sings the first song - It's Too Late and the second song is Baby My Heart by Sonny Curtis.  Released in the mid 1960s the only ballad is by Buddy Holly as the rest are all great rockers.  David Box recorded Don't Cha Know with the Crickets in Los Angelas on his 17th birthday August 11, 1960.  At the time he was on summer vacation and due to start his senior year of high school  in September.  David also recorded Peggy Sue Got Married and released it as a single on Coral backed with Don't Cha Know.  This was the one and only recording date he had with the Crickets as this session fulfilled their contract with Coral/Decca and they moved to Liberty records and David drove back to Lubbock, Texas to complete his high school education at Monterey High and finally at Lubbock High School.  A short four years later on October 23, 1964 David was killed in the crash of a light plane near Sugarland, Texas just five and a half years after Buddy Holly was killed in a light plane crash.  Earl Richards has a recording studio near Weatherford, Texas today and Sonny Curtis is still the Singer for the Crickets.  A great collectors item featuring two of the best rock-a-billy singer guitarists of the genre.  Joe Westbrook.
