Description
Scarce entry to the Prestige Records catalog. Was it a Tru-Sound release or a Status Records release? Well, the label contains the Status logo, and there is a Status sticker on the front cover as well. Rudy Van Gelder presided over the recording session(s) for this album. The 203 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, N.J. address is printed on the back cover. Perhaps this title was released on a subsidiary imprint because it did not fit in with the usual sophist-o fare associated with Prestige, leaning heavily on greasy, bumpin' RnR. That this title was intended for release under Tru-Sound seems likely as the Status imprint was generally associated with slapped-together packaging. This one is so hurriedly assembled that they did not even bother printing new jackets. The vinyl, however, is thick and rigid and the jacket is constructed of thick card stock.
