When the labels are examined closely under bright light, there are three spindle marks on the label of Side A and four (?) spindle marks on the label of Side B. There is one spindle mark on the label of Side D and there are no spindle marks on Side C. The records have paper dust (mainly the first record), a few faint sleeve removal scuffs, and the odd faint marking, as well as light signs of handling along the outer (non-playable) rim. Visually Side A and Side B grade as 7.5 out of 10 while Side C and Side D grade as 8.5 out of 10.

Side A and Side B have probably been played more often than Side C and Side D, though the album has hardly ever been played whilst in my possession. Both records play with superb audio. That said, there is some brief low-level static in between some of the songs and some light static / crackle is present on occasion on “Pueblo Nuevo” on Side B. These, however, are minor complaints, since the music is almost always well to the forefront. Side A and Side B play with a touch more wear overall and, as mentioned, there are traces of static on “Pueblo Nuevo” on Side B. For reasons outlined above, I would grade Side A between 8 and 8.5 out of 10; Side B between 7/7.5 and 8.5 out of 10, and Side C and Side D grade as 8.5 out of 10. To put it differently,  all sides grade between “VG+” and “Near Mint” except Side B, which grades between “VG” and “Near Mint” -- N.B. please see grading system below for explanation of "VG", "VG+", "Near Mint".

cover:

Gatefold cover, stored in Classic Records plastic sleeve, is just a notch below pristine or “Like New” condition, because it has the tiniest of corner dents to the corners. It has the most minor signs of wear and handling if one is looking for such things, but is otherwise in almost flawless condition with perfect spine, no wear to the seams, and no feathering to both openings. Inside of gatefold cover is clean. Inner is also in terrific shape. Includes Classic Records postcard. The inner sleeves are intact, but the sleeve for the second record is very creased. Given the above, the cover grades somewhere between “Very Good” and “Like new” – i.e. 8 or 8.5 out of 10.

A note on the grading:

Grading is conservative. Records are checked under bright light and play graded prior to listing. I don't use "EX" or "VG++" or "EX-".

Vinyl:

“Sealed” à still in shrink.

“Near Mint” à record appears to be in flawless condition without any defects.  

A near perfect, possibly unplayed record.

“VG+” à light scuffs, scratches or marks; a lightly played record with minimal and/ or occasional surface noise only.

A better-than-average used record. Play is fairly quiet.

“VG” à record played a number of times; plays with some intermittent surface noise in the form of low level or background crackle, 'clicks', 'pops' etc. However, although surface noise is present and is part of the listening experience, it should not overwhelm the music or be too intrusive.

An average used record. Some moderate surface noise.

"VG-" à record occasionally or frequently plays with surface noise which is distracting or intrusive or 'competing' with the music. It should still however play through without 'skips' or 'jumps' and should still be listenable.

A below-average used record. Not trashed - playable, but somewhat noisy in parts or throughout.

“G” à record will either have ‘skips’ or jumps, sound terribly noisy incl. possible distortion in the vocals and/ or be unplayable.

An abused record, with flaws as described above. Only value is in its rarity or as a ‘placeholder’ copy.

With many records play is variable. This will be reflected in the grading as, for example:

VG-/VG or VG/VG+ or VG-/VG/VG+

Cover:

Like new – pristine – 9 or 10 out of 10

Very Good – minor defects only, such as a tiny mark or crease, or a hint of corner wear – will otherwise be almost flawless –7 or 8 out of 10

Good – light wear is evident, but cover still intact, with (for example) legible spine, some shine to laminate, no serious ring wear etc., well preserved  –5 or 6 out of 10

Acceptable/ Fair – far more noticeable wear, incl. ring wear, corner wear, seam splits etc. although cover is still intact, functional –4 out of 10

Poor – shocking condition incl. pronounced ring wear, seam splits, writing, dirt etc. 

–3 out of 10 or less
