RECORD CAT NUMBER 7-63229

This is an extremely rare stereo 1st pressing of the groundbreaking album recorded @ Ardent Studios, Memphis,July 21st 1968.

Nearly thirty years before the industry capitalized on the idea of fusing garage rock with country blues Bukka White cut this groundbreaking album. The aged bluesman was still riding the swell of his “rediscovery”, regularly appearing at Folk and Blues festivals on both sides of the Atlantic. he expressed an interest in recording with a backing band, preferably comprised of young turks. British producer Mike Vernon honored the desire and organized a pick-up band of second guitar, harmonica, piano, string-bass, drums and washboard. Two of the sidemen even adopted the colorful monikers of Harmonica Boy and Anchor for the session. All were mere fractions of their frontman’s age. 

The set list is a predictable mix of White’s “hits”. White called his creations “sky songs,” a phrase touching on his tendency to pluck ad-lib verses and chords from out of thin air. The most startling example occurs early on White’s signature “Aberdeen, Mississippi Blues,”  everything synchs up and the effect is electrifying.

 There are no scratches, no jumps no skips or unsightly marks, fantastic overal condition no doubt played just a handful of times, from both an audio and visual perspective the vinyl is in Near Mint condition.

OUTER SLEEVE

The album is complete with the original 1st issue sleeve, the whole sleeve is ultra clean and bright no creases and no laminate splits, all corners are sharp & the spine is 100% solid and readable with no splits or rips, the rear of the sleeve is complete with the gold stereo sticker, and is in fantastic condition and is free from splits and tares, the whole sleeve is totally free of any graffiti or marking, this has to be one of the best early issue sleeves available today! lays totally flat, overall I would grade the sleeve as Excellent +

I use industry standard mailers, with at least two fibre board inserts, in addition the vinyl is placed in a transit sleeve and the whole album is packed and neatly sealed in a pvc sleeve, then sealed in to the mailer, I am yet to recieve a complaint for damaged records due to poor packing and after completing over 800 transactions thats not bad going, check out my feedback  i have lots of satisfied customers.
