Description

Bumble Bee Slim 78: Blues Before Daylight & I Tried Everything I Could

V (78) Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

I am not an expert record grader, but I am listening to these on a sensitive Stanton turntable through my modern tuner and Bose speakers.  I'm using a 3.5mm stylus designed to play 78 size grooves on a modern turntable.  78s from the 1920s usually have some surface noise using this setup.

Blues Before Daylight sounded good to me, but a bit of surface noise throughout the record.  Still, you can clearly hear all the singing and guitar playing.

I Tried Everything I Could sounded about the same- you could hear the guitar and singing just fine.  It wasn't distorted.  Perhaps using a different size stylus would reduce some of this surface noise.  I just have the one 3.5mm size for 78s.
