Burning Spear: Marcus Garvey LP

Original UK 2nd pressing with blue Island labels, cut from the original stampers and purchased by me in the late 1970s. This has been carefully looked after as part of my record collection ever since.

The original outer sleeve has a bit of edge and storage wear (see photos), but the spine is still pretty sharp. Some mild age discolouration and a few light blemishes, but in all round pretty nice condition for an LP over 40 years old. The labels are nice with no damage or biro and the vinyl retains a nice sheen. On very close scrutiny with a bright LED torch there are a few marks here and there on the vinyl, but it’s superficial and non feelable and has not affect on play. The record is placed in a poly lined inner sleeve to remove static and protect the vinyl from more removal hairlines.

I have just wet cleaned the record in my professional cleaning machine using the award winning L’Art Du Son cleaning fluid so it is now static and dust free and in the best possible condition for the new owner to enjoy.

After cleaning I test played both sides all the way through on my Project Debut Carbon record deck fitted with an Ortofon 2M Blue stylus. The record sits perfectly flat on the deck and plays through beautifully with a dynamic analogue sound. Absolutely no skipping, sticking or jumping and minimal surface crackle. Sounds outstanding with only very, very light warm vinyl crackle in between a few of the tracks and on occasion at very quiet parts. It suits the reggae music and it’s why we love the vinyl sound.
