Description

1979 release by Buster Williams, with a heavy dose of Kenny Barron on piano. Between the two (Williams & Barron), there have been a good sized crop of Jazz releases in the ‘spiritual jazz’ realm of the mid-to-late 70s. Muse Records was one of the most, if not the most, active labels in putting out this style of jazz record - considered post bop, spiritual jazz, and / or contemporary jazz (which doesn’t seem specific enough to me).


Once I stumbled across this style of jazz I was hooked, and exploring Muse Records’ catalogue was a primary way to discover similar (but still novel) records such as this one. ‘Heartbeat’ was a record in this first wave of discovery of Muse recordings that really captivated and sent me on a journey to find more.
