This is the original UK Mono issue of this album. With the Ernest J Day & Co Ltd front laminated sleeve in VG+ Condition, the orange CBS inner in VG condition & the Record in EX Condition. With great tracks from the Byrd's including; 'Artificial Energy & Tribal gathering'. With the original rough orange CBS labels, the A-1 B-1 Matrices & A-14 A-10 Stampers of the first presses. Description
Original UK CBS rough orange label mono press.
The fifth album by the Byrds was issued in January 1968 and recorded at Columbia Studios, Hollywood during June to December 1967. The sessions for the follow up to Younger Than Yesterday, were long and eventually led to the departure of David Crosby & Michael Clarke in turn and even saw the brief return of Gene Clark. By the time of its release only Roger McGuinn & Chris Hillman remained as original members of the band, although several of David Crosby's songs were kept on the album!!
It also marked a shift to a more psychadelic & experimental rock style with one of the first uses of a Moog synthesiser, alongside the new country & folk rock influences that would dominate their later albums.
This is the original mono issue with the rough orange CBS labels, 'Cop. Con.' music credits and the A-1/B-1 matrices and A-14 A-10 stampers.
The Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some corner/edge wear and some light laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some storage rubbing on the rear cover. The spine is intact, slightly worn and fully readable, the orange CBS inner is discoloured, creased & in VG condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of light needle marks & scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, just a really great, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; 63169, A-1 stamper A-14, B-1 stamper A-10. This is one of early copies of the first pressing of the original UK mono issue of this classic 1968 album!
All LP's are sent outside covers in cardboard record mailers with plastic covers and cardboard stiffeners to protect the albums!! UK Signed For Postage is £4.50 for the first LP & is the same for up to four single LP's or two double LP's or more up to 2kg.
Royal Mail post to Europe (All EU countries & non EU countries, including Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, etc.), the Rest of the World (Zone 1, including Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea, China, South Africa, etc.) and the Rest of the World Zones 2 & 3 (the USA, Australia & New Zealand etc).
All Airmail is limited to 5 or 6 lp's due to 2kg weight restrictions.
