Description
Byron Morris & Gerald Wise
"Unity"
Original pressing of the 1969 session released in 1972 on EPI Records, catalog #EPI-01, in stereo. Made in the USA. Rare private press, Byard Lancaster joins in with free-form Jazz broodings w/baritone & tenor, saxes, trumpet, amplified congas for percussion, w/Freddie Williams on bass. Side 2 is "black awareness" (23:40)..wild stuff!
The vinyl looks mint and unplayed, no marks, highly glossy, very little noticeable surface noise. The cover shows light ringwear and edge wear, there's a two inch split in the bottom seam by the opening and a half inch split at the top opening.

Black Awareness
In December 1973, Byron Morris' band Unity entered a studio in White Plains, NY, and recorded its first LP, Blow Thru Your Mind. But that later session wasn't Morris' first experience in a studio. In 1969, Morris and trumpeter Gerald Wise recorded their Unity session for EPI Records -- 4 years before Morris co-founded the group called Unity -- he was part of this LP called Unity. Dissonant free jazz!
