Description
This is a fine copy from an early (1983) bootleg of the rare sole LP by Minneapolis group the C.A. Quintet, originally released in 1969. After a couple of mostly tepid soul 45s, this group created one of the top shelf rarities from the late '60s. The dense, ferocious guitar solos in "Cold Spider," "Underground Music," and parts of the title track are really striking for the period, and lead singer/chief songwriter Ken Erwin's trumpet lines add an eeriness to many of the other songs. Psycho was the first to reissue the LP in any format. While they normally did a good job, here they unfortunately dropped one of the twin guitar tracks in "Cold Spider," thereby reducing the song's impact. Otherwise the sound is good (they used a pretty clean copy of the LP as their source). This copy's disc is clean -- graded visually, M-. Its jacket is all but M- with some light scrunching in the corners and light tearing on the top and bottom seams (EX+). It's worth noting that the reproduction of the striking cover art is sharper here than it is on the more recent Sundazed reissue, though the back cover has been altered (on the original, the negative image is in black and white).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs.
