Listening to Can in the 00's sends one's brain into a tizzy from the realization that the list of bands who have been influenced by them is unending, listening to Can is like putting a kaleidoscope up to your ear. There might be music groups who have elements of Can in their style and not even know it. It's a treat for those of us who root for the underdog to know that one of the most influential bands of the last 35 or so years barely reached the pop charts. Take that, Billboard! Ha!

Formed in Cologne, Germany in 1968, the band often incorporated other members but always revolved around core musicians Irwin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Michael Caroli, and sometimes included vocalist Damo Suzuki (subject of the song by The Fall "I Am Damo Suzuki"). Just as their contemporaries The Velvet Underground helped to establish the punk rock aesthetic without necessarily being orthodox punks themselves, Can in part laid the foundation for Kraut Rock, Experimental, Electronic, and Prog Rock without remaining in any one singular genre.

From the liner notes of "Soundtracks" comes this: "'Can Soundtracks' is the second album of The Can but not album no. two. 'Can Soundtracks' means a selection of title songs and soundtracks from the last five movies for which The Can wrote the music." Contains one of Can's more well-known tracks, "Mother Sky."

This album is an original issue released in 1970 on United Artists. Used original-issue Can albums are QUITE RARE, especially ones in this condition. Vinyl is in Excellent condition, sleeve is in VG+ condition.
