Description
This is an overall fine original 1973 U.K. pressing copy (A-1/B-1 matrix #s) of the second LP by the German group Can, originally released in Germany in 1970. The record is a transitional one, marking the change in lead vocalists from American Malcolm Mooney (who sings on two tracks) to Damo Suzuki (who handles vocal duties on the other tracks, not counting one instrumental). The LP's title refers to the fact that its tracks were recorded for film soundtracks: three for the 1970 film Deadlock, and one each for four other films (thus the five strips of film on the jacket's front cover). Its highlight is undoubtedly the 14-minute sonic assault "Mother Sky," which recalls the group's debut, Monster Movie, but features Suzuki. All of the LP's tracks are worthwhile, however, though the final track, "She Brings the Rain," is a stylistic outlier. The jacket is in fine overall condition with some minor flaws: there are small stickers on the front and back covers (see photo of one), a more or less invisible 2” crease in one corner on the front cover, a couple of 2-3” creases in one corner on the back cover (see photo), light ring wear and a little staining on the back cover, and light edge wear (EX). The bottom seam has come unglued. Visually, the disc is clean with some hairline scraping and scuffing (mostly on side 1). It skipped in side 2, track 1, when I first play-tested it, but then played through fine with the tone arm weighted, and it otherwise plays with some light surface noise -- overall EX-.
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
