Vocalist Tomas Vikström shines in every song, but his performance on The Dying Illusion and Where the Runes Still Speak is absolute greatness! The epic atmosphere is genius, the tempos vary from few doom sections to fast heavy/power metal. There are some synths, too,m again for atmosphere.

This disc is epic, don't miss it just because it does not have Marcolin or it is not Epicus. It is every bit as good as the most well-known records of the band.

Best songs are The Dying Illusion, Where the Runes Still Speak, The Ebony Throne and The End of Pain. The former two are amazing, among Candlemass' best. The other show an amazing consistency, it is solid, classy stuff from the most underrated period of the band.
