A very rare treat, this!

On offer here is a superb original Blue Note mono pressing of the legendary 'Somethin' Else' by Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, featuring sterling performances by Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey.

Catalogue number of BLP 1595, the label has deep grooves on both sides of the LP and the dead wax has the RVG and ear stampers. The pictures below are of the actual record for sale and I hope they give you an idea of the kind of condition this LP is in - absolutely amazing for an album of over 45 years old! Exceptionally clean throughout, and including the original Blue Note advertising inner sleeve, which is just impossible to find after all these years.

I have cleaned it using my VPI HW-17F vacuum record cleaning machine and have placed the record in a brand new Nagaoka anti static inner sleeve, and have carefully play graded it using a Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck and Spacearm fitted with a Denon DL-103r cartridge, in order to accurately grade it. I will pack the album with the inner and record outside the outer sleeve to avoid seam splits in transit.

Onto the grading....

The front of the sleeve is in fantastic condition with the bare minimum of storage wear (and I'm being deliberately harsh in my grading), with some very light feathering to the opening edge and a tiny dink to the bottom right corner. The rear of the sleeve is exceptionally clean with just a small amount of rubbing to the photo in the middle (just about visible if you look at pictures below) and a carry over from the front right corner of the dink I mentioned before, now in the bottom left - it even still has the original price label. The spine and top and bottom edges are incredible, with the spine being crease free and the text on it totally clear and ledgible - unbelieveable considering the age of this album. VG+/EX.

The Blue Note advertising inner sleeve is in excellent condition, with some wear and tear to the opening edge (a small tear on one side and a small piece missing from the other) - all three edges are intact and will now be protected from further wear by the Nagaoka inner I've included. VG+.

The record labels are in superb condition, completely free of any stickers or writing of any kind and with just the smallest signs of use around the spindle hole. EX/EX.

Visual inspection of the record under bright electric light shows one or two hairline marks (not scratches) and the faintest of paper scuffs in one or two places on each side, but I am being picky as these are near invisible and completely non-sounding. It looks fantastic, especially considering it's age, as these are normally found scuffed up and scratched to pieces - this particularly copy has had an easy life, I think!

Play grading the record was so enjoyable I am sorely tempted to keep it as a spare copy, but my Christmas credit card bills are due shortly so I'd better not! It sounds fantastic, with the wonderful music and sonics you'd expect from this benchmark performance and recording - a tiny amount of background surface noise in places but no ticks, pops or jumps, and nothing to distract from the overall enjoyment of this album. Simply fantastic! Others might grade this near mint but I am harsh in my gradings, as I stated earlier, so I will grade it EX/VG+.
