THE CAPES OF GOOD HOPE "Winter's Children" b/w "If My Monique Would Only Dance"
Original 1966 45 on the US ROUND label
Vinyl: Plays VG+
On what might have been the coolest label design EVER, Chicago's Capes of Good Hope released just two singles during their brief tenure on Round Records, this being their second and farrarer release. "Winter's Children" is a heavily orchestrated update on Bach's "Sleepers Awake" that's sobaroque pop, it makes the Left Banke sound like screaming acid rock in comparison. And "If Only My Monique Would Dance" is, well, I'm not exactly sure what it is to be honest. It's sung in French over a galloping Bo Diddley beat, with falsetto backing vocals before breaking into an even more bizarre harmony pop quartet mindf*** thingie. Yup, that's the best I can give ya. Kinda sounds like one of those good-natured goof-off tracks the Who recorded for A Quick One While He's Away. Very strange. Cobwebs and strange.

Winning bidder pays $4 shipping in the US (each add'l 45 adds only 50 cents), $6 to Canada (each add'l 45 only $1 extra), and $8 everywhere else except Italy (each add'l 45 adds $2). Italian customers must add $33 for registered insured priority airmail - no exceptions - because otherwise your mailman will be playing your record on his home system by this time next month.
Paypal accepted, as well as other methods too. Payment expected within 14 days of auction end, which I think is pretty fair. Don't make me track you down. I got a mortgage to pay too. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
