Description
Great 1950s DOO WOP TUNES.
The Spartans, a Doo Wop group from Cleveland Ohio, recorded only these two sides in 1954. They are great, fun to listen to, and very hard to find. On Side A, the vocal is accompanied by great sax and guitar solos. Side B is a slow classic very harmonic ballad, unaccompanied, despite what the label says. This 78 was recorded by a small and little known company in New York called Capri Records. It is an original vinyl pressing. Numbers in the dead wax are 7201 290 M. The M has a circle around it.
Capri # 7201
THE SPARTANS (with Banjo Bill and his Rhythm Kings) *Accompanies only on one side. Despite the name, there is NO banjo in the recording, and the accompaniment is very R&B oriented*
Titles: Faith, Hope and Charity / Lost
Condition: E- (grooves are in beautiful, very shiny shape. Almost no goove wear at all. This record would be E, except for the light surface scuffs and surface scratches. Record is very glossy)
It plays great on my turntable with 2.8 mil.
A great addition to your Doo Wop or R&B collection.
Personnel include:
Richard Howard (Lead)
Curtis Hafley (First Tenor)
Ronald Howard (Second Tenor)
Paul Mahaly (Baritone/Bass)
Herb Hinton (Bass)
