CAPRICORN COLLEGE

START MUSIC / CALIFORNIA

BALL FIRE LD 100

1978

Click HERE and listen to our soundclip / mp3 of both sides

Desirable, Italian disco oddity by a cult group. An unusual take on the original New York disco sound. Each side has a funky undercurrent with hard drums, cosmic synth, kitschy sunkissed vocals and infectious horn section. "Start Music" sounds like a TV advertising theme with spacey and futuristic touches but "California" is also gently stoned and carefree with a pumped-up Cento - Photochrome meets Black Is Black style intro, dancing fender rhodes and slick guitars too. Great for DJs! Disc cut loud with big production sound. This is basically a hippie rock group doing disco with salacious artwork sleeve to help potential sales. The same group was behind 'Mab Mystic Woman' and the prog grail, Orfeo 2000. Please see our other current auctions for the Don Lurio - "Ruba Ruba" 1st press Italian disco 7inch

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, strong VG+ with some hairlines and light scuffs from storage / audible pop tick midway the "California" side / disc cut loud with big production sound / some other light natural background noises most probably due to the actual pressing quality
SLEEVE - strong VG+ regardless of any old humidity spotting or dirt marks from storage / corner and edge wear in places / some tears to the open side.
LABEL - some natural age discoloration / a few faint old dirt marks from storage

After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)

For the moment, our auctions will focus on original 7inch delights from '50s doo wop to '80s synth pop so expect to see:

northern soul / popcorn / new breed / exotica / funk / rare groove / ost / bossa / disco / jazz / latin / french pop / psych / garage / sunshine pop / rock / prog / aor / easyglide / rockabilly / oldies / rock 'n' roll / surf / blues / folk / ethnic / reggae / dub / experimental / ambient / dance / electronic / punk / wave / indie / power pop / metal / glam / weird / outsider / spoken word / private press / novelty

Italian soundtrack and Library collectors already know us well, so please bid with confidence
