Description

Apologies to the initial bidders and watchers but I had to relist as for some reason I got my monos and stereos mixed up.  Try again.....
Ah, the Captain.....sadly missed and this crazy world is the poorer for it but at least we have his musical legacy, albeit alternative!
So this is the original and early album on Liberty UK LBS 83172 in stereo. Machine etched matrix numbers on the run-offs are LBS 83172 A-1/B-1 *T.
The gatefold sleeve is a robust heavy card outer laminated affair with the left sleeve closed and the right open to accept the disc. This open side has flipback tabs on the inside which is a sign of quality (unlike US versions which are generally only folded and always prone to seam splits). For an almost 50 year old sleeve this one is as nice as you could hope to see. Is not perfect with the odd bit of slight corner creasing but I'd rate it 9/10 for condition all day long.
On to the record itself which is flat and of medium weight with clean blue/black labels and tight spindle holes. There isn't much degree of spindle tracking in evidence and I reckon the disc has only had a handful of spins in its' lifetime. Yet although dormant through the decades its been in contact with the inner sleeve (thankfully poly-lined), subject to dust 'abrasion' and probably removed and handled for the odd 'inspection'.  This is why vinyls of a certain age invariably show scuffs and maybe light hairlines, simply for being in existence for a long time. So, how does this one fare?  At the window it looks satisfyingly glossy and clean. Under the evil and searching desk lamp I do see some of those aforementioned scuffs and hairlines but oh so light. Grading wise therefore and although tempted for an 8.5 I'm going to give it a conservative 8/10 minimum to avoid any conflict.
The original 'Made In England' die-cut inner sleeve is polythene lined as stated and still in fresh shape as much as time has allowed.
99p start, free UK postage and the auction as always will run to conclusion.
