Produced by Captain Beefheart himself, Lick My Decals Off, Baby was a further refining and exploration of the musical ideas posited on Trout Mask Replica. As such, the imaginative fervour of Trout Mask is toned down somewhat, but in its place is an increased self-assurance; the tone of Decals is also a bit darker, examining environmental issues in some songs rather than simply concentrating on surreal wordplay. Whatever the differences, the jagged, complex rhythms and guitar interplay continue to amaze. Those wanting to dig deeper after the essential Trout Mask Replica are advised to begin doing so here.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright, fresh and unmarked with NO spindle WEAR - this copy has clearly seen little play
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and excellent condition with just two really tiny hairlines, very faint and barely visable, you have to look for them.
The whole LP plays beautifully throughout with superb clarity, no groove-wear, no distortion, sounds superb and is strictly graded a very strong EXCELLENT - great copy
SLEEVE: The original matt sleeve is clean and fresh and unmarked with justvery light rubwear otherwise, very little wear to speak of and all text on the spine is clear and sharp - EXCELLENT

GRADINGS
MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised, as Sealed or Unplayed will be mint.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks but there will be very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD + The record may have scuff marks and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly throughout, with only barely detectable crackles or pops. A slight noise at the beginning is allowable, but the remainder must be nearly flawless. Definitely no scratches or gouges that a touch with a dry finger can feel. The cover may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
